Past Seal of Biliteracy Awardees
Kailee Hung, Class of 2020 |
English-Japanese Biliteracy Awardee "...I think learning a language has many benefits such as improving one's ability to retain information along with listening and speaking skills...having the seal of biliteracy is beneficial because employers will be more likely to hire someone who has the extra skill set of knowing a second language. Even if a second language isn't needed in a job, an interviewer would see that you have the work ethic and dedication needed to study a foreign language and acquire the seal." Vivian Nguyen, Class of 2020 | English-Japanese Biliteracy Awardee
"I was not discouraged after taking my first Japanese class so I continued my journey with Japanese and decided to take it for all four years of high school...AP Japanese was the hardest since there were many more speaking elements involved and I was not used to it, but I was able to persevere through it... I did not want to just give up after coming this far with Japanese so I did my best to keep up. All of that definitely helped me prepare for the AP exam and to get the Seal of Biliteracy. Now, I plan to continue with my journey and improve even further in speaking and learning more about the culture of Japan. I am planning to at the very least minor in Japanese in college and someday go to Japan to experience it." |
